How we build a Northside deck

Tyler and Alexander run every project personally. There is no foreman or project manager between you and the people building your deck. Most builders promise quality and then send a crew you have never met. They disappear after the contract is signed. What follows is how a Northside deck goes from a conversation at your back door to something you can walk out onto.

Phase 1

Consultation

We come to your property and walk it with you. We listen to how you want to use the space and ask the questions other builders skip. No sales pitch.

Phase 2

Design & Plan

Before we break ground, you have seen exactly what we are about to build. We give you drawings, material specs, and 3D renderings you can rotate on your phone. Nothing moves forward until you sign off on the plan.

Phase 3

Permits & Approvals

We pull the permits ourselves. We sit through the city's inspections. We coordinate with your HOA on design and material approvals. Most homeowners never make a single call. By the time framing starts, everything is signed off.

Phase 4

The Build

Tyler or Alexander runs the build personally, on site for the work that matters and available whenever you need them. The structure goes up in pressure-treated lumber. The finish materials are whatever you picked during design. You get regular updates and a call any time we need a decision from you.

Phase 5

Final Walkthrough

We walk every board and every railing with you. The project is not done until you are completely satisfied. After we close out the permit, the deck is yours, and we are still a phone call away.

Common questions about building a deck

Who actually builds my deck?

Tyler and Alexander. They started the company together and they still run it together. They run every project personally. You will know the people building your deck because you will be talking to them.

What materials do you work with?

For the deck surface, we work with composite or hardwood, depending on the look and budget you want. The structure underneath is pressure-treated lumber. The deck boards go down with hidden fastener systems, which means the finished surface stays clean and you do not see exposed screw heads. We walk through every material decision with you during the design phase. You know exactly what is going on your house before we order anything.

Do you handle permits and HOA approvals?

Yes. We pull the permits ourselves. We sit through the city's inspections. We coordinate with your HOA on design and material approvals. Most homeowners never have to call the city or the HOA. By the time framing starts, everything is signed off.

How long does it take to build a deck?

Most projects take somewhere between two weeks and two months to build, depending on the size and what we are adding to it. We do not commit to a timeline until the design is final and we know exactly what is going up. Once you sign, you have a specific window.

How much does a deck cost?

It depends on what you want. A straightforward composite deck is one number. A screened porch addition with stone columns and built-in lighting is a different number entirely. We do not throw out ballpark figures over the phone, because we do not know your project yet. After the consultation, once we have measured the space and you have picked your materials, we give you a real number tied to your actual scope of work. You will not be surprised by hidden costs later.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Buford, Georgia and serve the Greater Atlanta area. That includes Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Roswell, Cumming, Gainesville, Snellville, Norcross, Flowery Branch, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Peachtree Corners, and others. If you are not sure whether your address is in our service area, call us and we will tell you.

How is a Northside deck different from one a typical builder puts up?

Most builders promise quality and then send a crew you have never met. They disappear after the contract is signed and show up to collect the check. With us, Tyler or Alexander runs your project personally, from the first call to the final walkthrough. They use materials from vendors they have worked with for years. They hold every detail to a standard that goes beyond code. When you have a question, you do not have to navigate a phone tree. An owner picks up.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Northside Construction Co. LLC is licensed and fully insured. You can ask for proof of both before you sign anything, and we will send it over.

My wife and I can't recommend the company enough. Through the whole process their team was transparent about everything and completed our build on time and on budget.
